Hi, I took a steep hit in health despite lots of great food variety and it has persisted for several years now, despite coverage of all housing with saunas, ale, wells, campfires, and the trading dock in use. I think I’ve finally figured it out, it’s the Smith’s workplace. However, there was never any grey circle around this building, and it is still some distance from housing. Is there a detraction range for this building and what is it? I’m going to demolish it and build it even further away and see what happens, but it would be great if I had some sense of the detraction range so I can build my industrial area all together.

No, the blacksmith shops don’t have a detraction radius. I thought it should be fine to have a blacksmith working inside a village. So it must be something else in your case. If you want to join us fighting back the beta bugs, let me know. :)

Saunas, ale, wells, campfires and the trading dock are for happiness, not health. Health largely depends on having a balanced diet consisting of grains, vegetables, fruit, and protein. Herbs can eke this out to a small extent. But if you are missing just one of the four, your health will suffer disproportionately. And it is not enough just to have all four food groups in your town, they must be in each villagers’ home when they arrive home to eat.

Ah good to know about the Smith, I’ll move it back near where any workers can get to it without a long hike lol. I’ve had all the food groups and herbs covered for many years, yet this dip in health lasted about 10 years out of the 40 played so far, it only came back up to 4 hearts in the last year. I have no idea why, but I’m glad it happened at least. I have a network of markets so every house should be getting access, maybe there was just a very long time delay before everything was distributed? I play the game at 1x or 2x, hard to know what I might have missed but I guess it was something.
