That’s not nice. If there is no connection to mod objects or user interactions, I doubt we can find out the cause of your crashes or that it’s a solvable mistake in mod files at all. Those memory dump files would not help.

Yea, I can’t figure it out. It didn’t start happening until year 30 or so (after I had acquired brick technology, notably, though I don’t know why there’d be a connection, and I got this far in my previous map without issues). I played with it some more and it seems to be crashing right before it autosaves, but not every time it autosaves, so that could be coincidence. If that’s the issue, might not be anything to do with North at all.

If you like to share your save file, you can send it to me via email. Maybe I get an idea of a cause by looking at it in game. There might be any occasional case of storing something wrong on a pile without pile mesh or such.

I hope you can sort the “crash business” out, Taganaya. It´s never nice, especially when you have no idea why. Anyway; in the last version, I developed into the “industrial” era without any problems.

I´ve again started a Nordic game. I thought a little about continuing my “history blog” where I wanted to simulate Icelands history between 900 and 1000. I don´t know yet if I will. I haven´t “connected” to these people as I did to Dorrit, Amiracle and their descendants. These people aren´t simply as colourful as they were.

Anyway, it´s as tough as it can be without using “Ironman”; seafarer, small mountain map, harsh. (I know, I have an “ironman seafarer game” “open” but I´m not sure it´s doable) The main problems are the lack of trees and only protein to eat. (These group of people have gone even further up in the mountain where it´s impossible to farm anything).

    First picture
I needed to cut all trees on the whole map (except a few smaller on the other side of the river) and these 5+4 big trees to be able to build the initial buildings and the bridge I needed to get the trees on the other side of the river. It wouldn´t have worked without that bridge this early. We also go to the other side of the river for firewood, berries and iron ore.

    Second picture
It looks like a real Iceland scenario wouldn´t be possible. I´ve cut all trees in this area, there is still a few new deadwood to find every year and now these small trees appear. So it looks like you can cut all trees and still in the future have some forest.

    Third picture
The forest grows but there´s not much deadwood or food to find. Is the forest too dense for that? I see a future fuel problem when the peat areas are depleted.

The signs on the peat look nice and work well. Have you increased the speed for peat cutting, Tom? I have the impression that it´s faster but that´s maybe only because so far, they´ve cut peat close to their houses.

    Fourth picture
There´s not much iron ore, so I`ve started to prepare for mining by producing some tallow. Here I´ve reached the limit. It would be nice to have a window on the menu of the campfire where you can set the limit for materials. Food and clothes are obvious but it´s not so easy to know to which category tallow belongs. I like other of your menus where it says something like; “set the limit of Tallow and other Materials”.

If I remember right I did not change work speed of peat cutting in lastest beta version. It is 40 work to get out the 12 peat from a tile. To compare, it takes 20 work for chopping a log into 4 firewood.

The 3. limit used at the campfire I will add to the UI. That’s a good hint.

Since I didn´t connect to these people, I started a new game……. and restarted my “history blog”. We´ll see if it works this time. At least I have some ideas. http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=3623.msg66810#msg66810

If I have some game-play issues or suggestions, I´ll post it here.

That’s great your Iceland history continues! Whenever you like to create a story that doesn’t vanish in daily forum traffic, you can also use the blog system on this site. I would support it technically.

The Gods don’t seem to be pleased. I had a bad crash on my computer so my story may never continue. We’ll see what my son says after he’d take a look.

That’s bad. I hope your computer did not go to Valhalla.

Chapel has a typo, says Chistians instead of Christians. Maybe that’s why the gods aren’t pleased!

Shouldn’t tiles on both sides of Stabbur be walkable? There’s plenty of space there thanks to the first floor overhang being wider than the base.

I had it so when making the Stabbur but found it too close to some other buildings due to the overlapping road tiles. Maybe to look at this again.

Found a small typo, when choosing the starting condition Survivor it reads: “ragged clothes und the will to survive.” I assume it should read and rather than und.

So now that Boglands is out, got any thoughts you’re down to share on what’s next for North?

Thoughts I have enough and a version 8 with many new assets to build proper towns more than just villages is still an exciting one. Or to go on with my fake viking stuff.^^

Personally I quite like the viking stuff, adds a very unique and memorable feel to the mod in my opinion. I can’t think of any other viking themed city builders, lol.

More town-type stuff would be cool too though.
