Tiles made of fired clay are the most wealthy and also useful roofing material a Banished building can have. They not only look great but also prevent houses from catching fire easily. So switching from thatched or wooden roofs to clay tiles is worth the effort, especially in dense housing areas. Like bricks, roof tiles are an advanced building material, achieved in late game via trading routes to Hanseatic cities.
