Lowlands are plain and mostly wooded areas in low terrain, often adjacent to a river or swamp. On this map type you will find large flat areas, perfect for forestry or agriculture and to build a big town. However, there is also some disadvantage. Mountains for mining can be rare or far away and vast boglands can slow down development. Also, suitable spots for windmills or streams for waterpower can be difficult to find compared to valleys.
